Decline in Amazon deforestation

The Brazilian government announced a decline in deforestation in the Amazon region to the lowest level in 23 years, and justified this retreat to tighten its stance on illegal logging of trees.

The data showed issued by the National Institute for Space Research of the destruction of Brazil's share of the largest rainforest in the world fell by 11% to 6238 square kilometers in 12 months.
