Demonstrations calling for an international resolution against the president of Yemen



Tens of thousands in the cities of Sana'a and Shabwa and Socotra, Yemen, Hodeidah in the procession for the UN Security Council to take a strong stance against the regime of President Ali Abdullah Saleh, while the Security Council is discussing a draft resolutionurges Saleh to step down.

For its part, the government refused to resolve the crisis in the country through the issuance of international resolutions. And called for a peaceful solution instead.


A draft resolution
This comes at a time when the Security Council will discuss for a few days a draft resolution submitted by Britain calls for step down.

Risk of deadlock
In his statements after the meeting of the Security Council, warned the UN envoy to YemenJamal bin Omar, the risks of continued political stalemate and deteriorating security and economic situation in Yemen, and stressed that the security situation "deteriorated dramatically, especially since five or six provinces are no longer under the control of the government."


He explained that there was agreement between the ruling party and the opposition for a transitional period of two years during which organizes the elections, but Saleh refused tobe bound by this Agreement.

He ibn Umar that the political process "in trouble" adding that "during our consultationswith the Yemenis, there was a sense of urgency the need to address the crisis, especially as it has been going on in January last, and the result of which the repercussions ofhumanitarian, security and economic.

He stressed that "no solution can be found only in the context of a process led by Yemeni and collect all the political forces in the country."

For its part, emphasized the processes responsible for the United Nations humanitarianValerie Amos that "the conflict that is added to the poverty and drought in Yemen causesthe development of a daily struggle for survival for millions of people."

Amos said in a statement: "Every evening Yemeni third goes to bed hungry. In some parts of the country's children suffer from malnutrition, three of which are of the highest rates of malnutrition in the world." She stressed that "hospitals and clinics are overcrowded and do not work, and access to drinking water has become more difficult."
