Approved a national unity government in Yemen yesterday a bill granting immunity to President Ali Abdullah Saleh and those close to him, which he stepped down to pave the implementation of the agreement the transfer of power to put an end to the protest movement against him.He cited a statement carried by the official Yemeni news agency that the government approved a draft law to give the benefit of working with him and in all organs of state institutions and civil, military and security during his immunity from prosecution and the judiciary.
The agency added that the Government of National Unity referred the bill to the House of Representatives to complete the constitutional procedures thereon.
He is in favor of sons and brothers in key positions in the army and security units responsible for the attacks that killed hundreds of demonstrators during the 11 months of demonstrations against the rule lasted 33 years.
Yemeni President had signed in November an agreement under the auspices of the Gulf Cooperation Council aims to end the political crisis in Yemen, and spends his resignation and the holding of early presidential elections on February 21 in return for being close to him and to the immunity.
And denounced the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay, United Nations Friday a bill granting immunity, arguing that similar legal instrument that would prevent the prosecution of persons who have committed international crimes.
The demonstrators expressed their rejection of any immunities and guarantees provided to the Yemeni President to prevent his trial.
