Is the behavior of America's better than others?

Americans like the idea that the United States has a unique and exceptional between the two worlds, but, unfortunately, false.

Stephen Walt *
* Professor of Political Science at the University of Harvard

The second myth
Allegations of "American exceptionalism" stems from the belief that the U.S. isexceptionally virtuous nation, a nation which loves peace and freedom and foster respectfor human rights and enshrine the rule of law. The Americans like to believe that their country to behave better than other countries, and not necessarily better than the other great powers.

If that were true, what came to rest in the United States Touhchha with the worst in the history of mankind. Valmtaml in history classes found him lying most of these allegations of moral superiority of the United States.

And those who do not know or remember, the United States and one of the most powerexpansion in modern history, began with 13 small colony on the east coast of the Atlantic, but they are stretched at the end of the day in the length of the American continent, was taken over by the states of Texas and Arizona and New Mexico and California from Mexico in 1846.

During this journey, wiped out most of the indigenous people, survivors and confined them in the reserves are poor. By the mid-19 th century, Britain expelled from the Pacific Northwest, and tightened its grip on the western half of the globe.
Since then, the United States fought many wars, and she was leading in many of them, and their behavior in this war is far from being a model of ethical behavior disorder.
During the invasion of the Philippines between 1899 and 1902, killing between 200 thousand and 400 thousand Filipinos, mostly civilians. It also did not hesitate to the United States and its allies in the displacement of 305 thousand German civilians, and 330 thousand Japanese civilians, by aerial bombardment in World War II, has been most of the campaigns in the framework of the cities targeted enemy. So it is not surprising that Gen. Curtis LeMay - who oversaw the bombing campaign against Japan - to help "if the United States did not win the war, Hokmna as war criminals."
During the Vietnam War, the United States dropped more than six million tons of bombs, including tons of bombs, napalm and chemicals destructive to trees and forests "Kaml orange", which is directly responsible for the death of a large number of million civilians died in that war.
In the latest of these wars, was killed in the war-backed Contra rebels from the United States, about 30 thousand in Nicaragua, a number equivalent to two million Americans dead, for the population of the United States.
Led military campaigns the U.S. directly or indirectly to the death of 250 thousand Muslims over the past three decades (and this lowest estimate and do not include deaths caused by sanctions imposed on Iraq in the nineties), including the deaths of more than 100 thousand people died after invasion and occupation of Iraq in 2003.
Today, still unmanned U.S. aircraft and special forces hunting suspected terrorists in at least five countries, killing an unknown number of innocent civilians as a result of these operations. It may be some of these processes is necessary to make the lives of Americans more prosperous and secure. While the Americans were without a doubt will be considered such acts criminal and unjustifiable, if committed by other nations against them, we almost do not find one American official who condemned these policies, but they - paradoxically - are still wondering, "Why do they hate us?"

Know how the United States "for the game of human rights and international law", but she refuses to even today the signing of the most human rights treaties, which is not a signatory to the International Criminal Court, and was always ready to get closer toauthoritarian regimes, despite its record shameful in the field of human rights!, Do you remember our friend Hosni Mubarak?

If that was not enough, the Abu Ghraib scandal and the practice of the administration of President George W. Bush for torture, ill Kalaiham drowning, and U.S. prisons abroad, and preventive detention, enough examples to undermine the belief that America act according to ethical standards. The Obama's decision to retain many of these policiesproved to be not just a temporary excesses or deviations.

U.S. record is clear, we have the leaders of the United States, including that they thoughtshould be done when faced with external threats, and did not pay much attention to the principles of ethics during their careers. Americans like to believe that the United Statesuniquely virtuous nation, but, unfortunately, was false.

The Washington Times: Is Obama will attack Iran?

Saw the Washington Times, America's right-leaning Pavtaatahitha that the disclosure of an alleged plot to assassinate the Saudi ambassador in Washington, Adel al-Jubeir has provided many reasons to talk about the U.S. war against Iran.

Turning to the proposals of Obama early in his presidency to extend a hand of friendship to Iran if the latter when the real desire, but the paper considers that containment of Iran requires more than just speeches to the American president.

The Washington Times goes on to explain its point of view, and says that he soon proved that the state of Iran's refusal to provide it Walid friendship that Obama has proved that it is not, as portrayed by some as an Iranian anger of former U.S. President George W. Bush. Also showed suppression of the Iranian regime to the summer of 2009 the popular protests that the current Iranian regime is illegal.

As evidenced by the rejection of "the mullahs' regime" in Tehran for cooperation in the case of the Iranian nuclear issue they are not indifferent to the option of disarmament in the world, announced by Obama.

In the view of the newspaper that Iran represents a strategic challenge difficult. Iran is a country located in the heart of the Middle East, and is estimated to possess a global third largest oil reserves. But governed by an authoritarian regime that seeks to extend its dominance at the regional level and international level. This system also is one of the most powerful regimes that sponsor terrorism.

Then review the activities of Iran against the U.S. forces operating abroad such as Iraq and Afghanistan and aid to militias are killing American soldiers, and says that it is painful to see the reaction of Obama's alleged plot to assassinate the Saudi ambassador to come stronger than the reaction to the killing of Iran to American soldiers, and stamped Balthecm Obama says: If the alleged plot failed is the price movement of Obama towards Iran seriously, so be it!

Flexible system of Chinese rule

Chinese vote in local elections (French - Archive)
Author Eric said to me that the world is changing revolutions, elections, and other ways, but the most peaceful two changes found on the most important countries in the world, namely China and the United States.

He explained to me - in an article in The New York Times - that next year will see the U.S. presidential and congressional elections, and China will witness the emergence of a new leadership of her party, the Communist Party.
The author said that one question imposes itself in these circumstances is: "What is the best way to judge?"
The writer to the book written by the American thinker Francis Fukuyama entitled "Origins of the political system", where he said that the success of one-party system in China does not solve the problem of bad ruling, namely: How is the bad, and when the ruling is isolated in this case. He also pointed to an article written by columnist explaining the idea from another angle, namely, that the Chinese Communist Party, despite his popularity does not give up power when losing popularity.
The author said that one-Communist Party of China established in the Chinese Constitution democracy taking hold in the Chinese Constitution, and explain the popularity of the Communist Party of China said that it stems from the support the Constitution, and the U.S. support of the two parties Republican and Democrat is necessarily not linked to the electoral system democratic, and here lies the difference.
The author said that some see the need to go the Chinese Communist Party once he loses popular support, and said that this assumption is misplaced because it also means that the United States to repeal the Bill of Rights if the electoral system where the people's support, and looking for a new form of governance may be authoritarian .
The author said that since the founding of the PRC in 1949, under the leadership of one political party, including changes in government policies as widely as possible. Starting with the so-called "coalition of the new democracy" at the beginning of the process of land reform exciting early fifties of the last century, and the Great Leap to the semi-privatization of agricultural land in the sixties, and the Cultural Revolution to market reform in the era of Deng Jiao Ping, and the redefinition of Jiang Zemin, the party through " the theory of Three Represents ", the result is difficult to differentiate between the stages of Chinese domestic policy from time to time.
In terms of foreign policy, says writer that China has moved from the close alliance with the former Soviet Union in the fifties, to the Alliance default with America in the seventies and eighties, but today they are moving independently and seek a multipolar world, and this despite taking a number of leaders, leadership.
The author said that the records of electoral systems around the world indicate that the rotation of the party through elections may not provide the necessary flexibility or self-correction, in the United States may result in the election for new heads and a new majority in Congress, but it does not seem to have much to address the problems of America the long term.
In Europe governments go and come regularly through elections, but did not produce the minimum of the patch is needed to address their problems huge, and the same thing in Japan, where Prime Minister each year, as the failed elections and rotation in the country out of the ongoing recession in 20 years. Perhaps this explains the reason for governments produced by elections less than 50% of the level of support in their countries, while the retained one-party government in China's approval ratings exceeding 80% over the decades.
The writer concluded to the conclusion that the electoral rotation will not necessarily get the necessary legitimacy and flexibility, and the one-party rule does not necessarily mean that he does not enjoy solid public support.
