The state of Florida paid $ 1.3 million to a man unjustly imprisoned

And approved by lawmakers, Florida on Thursday to pay $ 1.3 million to a man whospent more than half his life behind bars for a crime he did not commit.

In the vote that the resolution by 37 votes to one vote and the state Senate approved a bill giving William Dillon 50 thousand dollars for each year of 27 years in prison for the murder of James Dvorak in 1981, Brevard County in Florida.

And Dillon (52 years) is the latest of the received financial compensation within a growing list of prisoners who were thrown behind bars unjustly.

And Dillon face thanks to his lawyer and others who took his case free of charge.

Said Dillon told reporters after the vote, "This is the greatest there is to it. There are people who really believe in innocence to the point that drives them to help you."

Dillon was released - who now lives in North Carolina - from prison in 2008 after theadoption of (a patent program in Florida) case. Led DNA tests (De. That. AT) conducted on the evidence of proof to his acquittal.
