French official accused of spying on reporters





















Le Monde filed a lawsuit last year against Sarkozy's office on charges of espionage (the island)

A lawyer for the President and counter-espionage agency in France that the initial charges brought against his client on Monday in connection with the investigation into the allegations of spying on journalists French newspaper Le Monde.

Under French law, preliminary charges give judges the right to continue in the investigation before determining whether the case will be sent to the courts.
